Norris Lake is 129 miles long (73 miles up the Clinch River and 56 miles up the Powell River), has 880 miles of shoreline including 50 miles of island shoreline, and is a sizeable 34,200 acres in surface area at summer water elevation. The lake collects rainfall runoff from a 2,192 square mile watershed. Located in the Tennessee counties of Anderson, Campbell, Union, Claiborne, and Grainger, Norris Lake has the largest flood control storage capacity of any lake on a tributary of the Tennessee River.

Approximately 80% to 85% of Norris Lakes shoreline is owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Wildlife Management areas. Less than 15% is available for private development which makes owning property on Norris Lake a rare and unique opportunity. Fishing includes large and small mouth bass. Additional fish include but are not limited to, Crappie, Lake Perch, Bluegill, Walleye, and Catfish. Bill Dance ranks Norris Lake in the top 10 of all Bass fishing lakes in the United States. Norris Lake is the second largest lake of the Tennessee Valley chain. Norris Lake is the deepest lake of the Tennessee Valley chain. Norris Lake is the cleanest lake of the Tennessee Valley chain.
